Senior Designer – Dorothy Perkins – Footwear

The Role –

A great opportunity has arisen within the Dorothy Perkins team for a trend driven Senior Designer to join the Footwear department, reporting to the Head of Design. We are looking for candidates who have worked on trend forecasting and development and you will have worked closely with Buying teams and Suppliers to ensure you capture the season’s must-have pieces to excite and delight the customer.

Key responsibilities

  • Work supporting Design Manager and Design Director in delivering the design strategy and vision for Dorothy Perkins
  • To interface with buying teams to deliver commercial footwear range in line with current trends and the buying strategy
  • To create timely and appropriate colour palettes in line with seasonal trends
  • To seasonly conduct Catwalk analysis, design presentations and footwear key shape product direction
  • Create seasons flow of trend themes in line with macro design inspiration and customer profile
  • Conduct accurate and timely product development and design packs in line with buying requirement. FE travel required
  • Conduct competitor reports and advise buying and design departments accordingly
  • Motivation, development and mentoring of direct reports
  • Working with QA on footwear product fit and quality that reflects design direction and customer requirements
  • Manage the design critical path in line with buying process
  • Continually source componentry and materials for footwear ranges

Desired Skills & Experience – 

  • Product Development knowledge and experience in factories in FE and India
  • Excellent skills with Illustrator, Photoshop and hand sketching to develop accurate product design packs
  • Strong influencing skills to drive the design vision
  • Ability to line manage motivate and develop team
  • Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to build strong working relationships with buying and senior management
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment
  • Excellent presentation skills
  • Must be a senior designer with a proven track record with a comparible retailer
  • Footwear Design Qualification to Degree level
